Growing up in Port Hedland in the 1970s, Chris McMullen developed a deep appreciation for the importance of a close-knit community and an understanding of the challenges faced by remote areas in Australia. As a driller in his twenties, Chris recognized the significant disparities between urban centers and remote towns.
Today, Core Drilling Services is in a fortunate position to give back to the communities where we work and live. Our core belief is driven by a passion for a brighter future for everyone.

‘Bluey’ – Beyond Blue Initiative
At Core Drilling Services, we believe in giving back to the community, a recent initiative exemplified this commitment. Driven by the enthusiasm of our field staff, we organized a company poll to sponsor a charity. Employees were given the choice between two worthy causes: ‘Beyond Blue’ and ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’.
To engage our team further, we also asked everyone to vote on the colour for wrapping our new 79 series cruiser, with options being Sky Blue for ‘Beyond Blue’ and Cancer Awareness Pink. The response was fantastic, reflecting our team’s dedication to these important causes.

In addition to wrapping the field-based ute in the chosen colour, CDS made a generous donation to the winning charity based on the employees’ votes. We also matched every dollar that any employee donated to either charity. This initiative was a great success, fostering team spirit and making a meaningful impact in the community.
And thus, ‘Bluey’ was born, symbolising our collective effort and commitment to making a difference.

Variety Bash
Core Drilling Services M.D, Chris McMullen, had the honour of accepting an invitation from esteemed industry peers to join ‘The Wiggles’ team for the SA Variety Bash. This event supports children who are sick, disadvantaged, or living with disabilities, helping them get the assistance they need to achieve their full potential.
The Wiggles team has participated in 9 Variety Bashes and has proudly raised over $700,000. This worthy cause brings together drilling service providers and drilling supply personnel, united by the belief that ALL KIDS DESERVE A FAIR GO!
