Barry Hyland has been a cornerstone of Core Drilling Services since its inception, joining the company while on a working holiday from Ireland. Over the past 15 years, Barry has played a crucial role in the company’s growth and success, demonstrating exceptional dedication and expertise in various roles. Starting as a Driller’s Assistant in September 2009, Barry’s career has progressed through increasingly responsible positions, including Driller, Supervisor, and Operations Coordinator. Since June 2019, he has been serving as the Operations Manager, where his leadership and deep industry knowledge have been instrumental in driving operational excellence.

Barry completed his Executive Acumen program, which focused on strategic planning, marketing strategy, and other key business competencies. This advanced training has equipped him with the skills to steer Core Drilling Services towards future growth and innovation.

Melinda Edgelow is a HSEQ Lead with a career grounded in hands-on drilling experience and a strong commitment to practical, operational safety leadership. Starting as an offsider in waterwell drilling and progressing through roles in diamond and RC drilling, she brings first-hand knowledge of rig operations, high-risk tasks, and the realities of remote field work to her HSEQ practice.

Melinda has since expanded into a senior HSE position, supporting drilling operations and leading initiatives that strengthen safety culture, risk management, and compliance across projects in the resources sector.

With qualifications in Work Health and Safety and a background in social science and legal advocacy, Melinda combines technical HSEQ capability with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. This unique mix enables her to interpret legislation and standards, translate them into clear expectations for crews, and advocate for fair, constructive approaches to safety and wellbeing on site.

Her experience includes supporting the implementation of HSE management systems, participating in audits and inspections, and contributing to incident investigations and corrective actions that drive continuous improvement.
